Kolding Sygehus installs 55 of UV Medico’s UV222™ lamps as part of research project

Danish hospital Kolding Sygehus has embarked on a research project using 55 UV222™ lamps from UV Medico. The aim of the research project is to uncover and validate the level of protection that Far UV-C can provide medical staff working with Covid-19 patients.

The lamps have been installed in the entire Covid ward of the hospital from patients’ rooms to the staff’s shared workstations and lunchroom.

While this project is still in its early stages, the project is somewhat similar to the one that UV Medico helped Aarhus University Hospital with although on a larger scale in Kolding Sygehus, as this project covers several areas where staff is continuously exposed to the virus.

Results from Aarhus University Hospital were positive, so we are optimistic about the upcoming results of the new project.

Effective yet safe

Far UV-C lamps emit light at a wavelength that is safe for humans but kills bacteria and viruses. This makes the technology interesting for populated areas in need of continuous disinfection such as hospitals.

UV222™ lamps from UV Medico emit light at 222 nanometres and have a built-in filter to block out residual wavelengths created in the light source which might be harmful. This is to ensure the safety of the people who are in the invisible light of the lamp.

We look forward to seeing data from the project at Kolding Sygehus once results are ready to be published in terms of infections, sick days from staff, and other findings that will come to light.
